How can I bounce back from a semester break?
I took a break in the spring semester because I couldn't afford it at the time and also needed a mental break. I'm now back in school for the summer and registered for fall, but I'm feeling nervous as to if I can do well in school or life at all. Any advice?

Hello Rachel,
Take a deep breath... You've got this! It's important to plan, schedule, and stick to a routine that gives you time for yourself. Even with short courses that you can handle, burnout can happen. Summer courses are hectic and often leave little room for self-care, so remember to prioritize it.
Remember, failure stands for "First Attempt in Learning." In school, ask questions—your understanding is in your hands. It's okay to stumble and not be perfect at everything. Do your own research; this is crucial. Be prepared for setbacks and those unexpected "rainy days." With today's technology and AI, there are countless resources to help clear up confusion, from skill-building websites to tutorials on YouTube.
Most importantly, keep moving forward. "This too shall pass," and the best moments will shine even brighter because you persevered. Keep trying, and success will follow.

It is obvious that you are sincere in wanting to laern and do well in school - that is very commendable,
It's natural that you feel a little nervous after a semester break. But you will find that once you get into the rhythm of classwork, you will ease into the routine. Allow yourself time to readjust - you could do this by:
1) Taking breaks when you feel exhausted or overwhelmed - sometimes, even a 10 min break doing a totally different activity or taking a quick walk could help reenergize you.
2) Be sure to eat a balanced diet - avoid excessive sugars, sodas etc., instead opt for fruit, nuts, cheese or protein.
3) Get rest - listen to your body - if you feel exhausted, rest well for a night - you will feel alert and ready to take on teh world the next day
Create your own support system. Use one or more of the following:
1) Use TA sessions to clarify content that was not fully covered in class or any questions you have.
2) Lean on friends and peers who are learning with you. If study groups work for you, join one or better still, create one with others.
3) Practice recalling key facts and other material you recently studied - there are several free tools available online to create flash cards and summarize a lot of material.
4) Teach someone what you learnt - it's a great way to recollect information while helping another student.
You will have an advantage going into the fall, because you are already doings ummer school & are actively in school mode.
Above all, be confident in yourself. You will do great if you believe you can do it. Wishing you a successful summer and fall semester ahead!
You are meant to do great things in life - never doubt that!
