Julia’s Answer

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for sharing!

I believe doing an internship before college is a fantastic idea. It can really help you figure out what you want to do in the future. A good place to start looking is your college's website to see what resources they offer. They often have tools like Handshake to help with this, and you can also search for internships on LinkedIn. I suggest getting involved at college to meet people and chat with others about how they found their internships and who they connected with.

Many great answers have been shared, but remember, to really stand out, focus on keeping your grades high! Top companies often look for a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Ensure your application shines among the rest. Good luck!

Dianna’s Answer

Internships can be very rewarding. To start, look for internships that align with your desired career. For example, if you’re interested in engineering in the cellular or wireline industry, search for companies that offer these positions. Visit their career pages to find internship opportunities.

Make sure you have completed relevant courses related to the internship you are pursuing. Prepare a resume that highlights your coursework and includes applicable keywords that match the internship posting. Additionally, be open to the possibility of relocating for the internship.

The key is to be prepared, disciplined, and open-minded in order to achieve your goals.

Bobby’s Answer

Hello,

I am in the process of hiring a High School Senior for a summer internship through the NAF organization. NAF is an educational non-profit with a national network of education, business, and community leaders who work together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready. NAF has a presence in 34 states in the US. You can learn more at this site: https://naf.org/our-academies/find-an-academy/

I suggest creating a resume, establishing a LinkedIn profile, and researching charitable organizations in the field that you are interested in, as they can always use help. Best of luck in your internship search!

Bobby

Use Online Internship Platforms

There are several platforms where you can find internships:

1.Handshake (specific to students, many schools partner with it)

2. LinkedIn: You can search for internships by location (New York) and industry. LinkedIn also allows you to network with professionals in your field.

3. Indeed & Glassdoor: Both have internship filters.

4. Internships.com: A dedicated platform for internships.

5. Way Up: Offers internship listings, as well as full-time positions.

Molly’s Answer

Hi Tyler-

Internships are great ways to start figuring out what you might want to do in your future career. Handshake, Chegg Internships, or LinkedIn are good tools to search for internships online. You can even filter by "high school" or "entry level"

Also start thinking about who is in your network. Do you have friends whose parents' jobs interest you? Start talking to people you know about their careers and learn more about the companies they work for. Then do some online research to see if they have internship programs or opportunities for you to do projects at those companies.

If you aren't able to find an internship, consider volunteering with an organization that interests you in your community. This is a great way to build skills and broaden your network.
