Hello. First, decide what you want: to be an employee or to own your own business. Here are some steps based on the experiences of successful people. If you want to be employed:
1. Strive to be the best; your attitude will say it all.
2. Participate in conferences and activities at your school and other international venues. Attend webinars in multiple languages.
3. Define your passion and which company you would like to work for.
4. Imagine yourself in that company and start meeting people who work there or with their suppliers.
5. Apply for opportunities within the company or with its suppliers. If you want to be an entrepreneur:
1. Research the main multinationals in the industry.
2. Work in one of these multinationals for at least 2 years.
3. In the meantime, start your business and set a timeframe for it to grow.
4. Leave the multinational when your business is self-sustaining. Much success.

Hi Aditee! I would definitely start out by working part time (if possible) with a local retailer. If you can work for a well known retailer, that's probably best as they will have their process/supply chain built out. This will give you experience from the ground level of how a retail store is run (which is very valuable knowledge). From there, as you progress in your schooling, I would also recommend looking out for internships at major retailers. I lot of large and growing retailers offer amazing internship programs that have full classes created to support their interns. A lot of times, they may offer full time employment post graduation. If you are early in your degree, you may want to consider a fashion merchandising degree alongside your business degree, if offered by your school. There are many facets of the fashion industry - buying, planning, sourcing, vendor management, etc. You may want to look into those areas to see what interests you the most. Best of luck! :)
