What is the best summer job I can get before college? How can I make myself a better candidate for veterinary medicine related jobs or jobs with animals?

This will be my first job and I want to find one as soon as possible so I can have spending money for college.

I love Hailey's and Nixon's advice! Besides getting a job at a pet store or grooming clinic, think about volunteering at a local animal shelter. Having job experience is awesome, but helping in the community really stands out on a resume. Plus, you'll gain amazing experience by seeing how local animal shelters and vets work. Go for it!

Hailey’s Answer

If you love animals and want to work with them, there are some fun options to consider. You could sign up for Rover, where you can take care of different pets. You might also find a job at a local boarding facility, or work at places like Petco or PetSmart. My sister works at a boarding facility and gets to care for lots of dogs and cats. She feeds them, plays with them, walks them, gives them medicine, and keeps track of who comes and goes. She loves working with the animals and is also learning a lot, which helps her career. Sometimes, she even helps the grooming team!

Use online job sites like Indeed.com and Monster.com to find internships or jobs in veterinary medicine. You can also stop by local vet clinics and ask about summer job openings.
