How can I show proof of funds?
I am applying for a fall 2025 bridge program at Diablo valley college, but for the application it says that I’ll have to show proof of funds for 30k, for 9 months, but I’ll be there only for 2. I don’t have 30k saved up and I intend to use the income from my remote job as a way for me to pay for my education. Which covers completely and even more the eventual costs. How can I use my salary(48.000 dollars) to get the I 20 ?

Hi Angy,
It has been said before, but I'll say it again: you need solid advice from an immigration attorney about your visa and tax requirements. That's not something random strangers on the internet can help you with. But I am pretty sure that you are not allowed to work on an F-1 student visa.
All the best!

Colleges like Diablo Valley College (DVC) estimate the total cost of attendance for visa purposes, which includes:
Tuition and fees
Housing
Food
Books and supplies
Personal expenses
Health insurance
Even if you're staying for only 2 months (e.g., summer or a bridge program), they typically still require proof of the full 9-month cost because that's what the U.S. government looks for when issuing an I-20 (it's about your ability to support yourself while in the U.S.).

Hey Angy,
The financial requirements can be complicated, but I am glad you are looking how to figure things out in order to go to the university you desire. Firstly, contact the financial department of the school you are looking to attend. They will tell you exactly what is needed for this. There very well might be someone specifically for international students as well. Some universities will allow you to have a co-signer or a co-payer, which allows a trusted individual give their information showing they have the funds in their account, while you pay it off as you get paid from your job. They do this to see that you can pay for the tuition even if something changes for you financially. If you have a contract with your job, it might be worth mentioning to help confirm that you can continue payments for your time there. If you are not able to call, send them emails and tell them your situation.
Best of luck to you!

This is a question about Proof Of Income for which I have some expertise in. You can do what you want, but I can give you the run down on what you may need to do and the documents that will back up your Proof of Income. All American Colleges, including the California Community College you are applying to, ask for proof of income for one reason or another and the college you are applying to is no different.
You will need to gather documentation of all of your income and your last bank account statement is included as well. In the past, you mentioned that you have a business with websites and if you are receiving any monies from those websites currently, you hopefully kept a record of each website's monies and hopefully can print out the last three payment statements from each website.
Previously, you had mentioned that you have employment online. If you still have that employment, and have not been receiving checks or Direct Deposits for your salaries, you will need to ask your current Employers to write a letter on their Letterhead stating how much you make per month. If you still do not have these jobs, you do not have to do that.
If your parents plan to chip in a bit to help you out with expenses, they will need to write a form letter stating how much they are contributing to you per month. If they do not plan to contribute any money to you, you do not have to do this.
Unfortunately, one of Diablo Valley Colleges requirements for the International Student Academic Program is indeed to show proof of $29,034. It is a requirement, so if you do not have that, you may want to wait, build up your bank account and then apply. The program is an intensive 8 week program given 3 times per year, so if you do not have the required monies to cover this requirement, it will affect your acceptance at this time. But there's always another time. The program is offered more than once during the academic year.
Diablo Valley College's 8 week International Student Academic Program costs $383.00 per unit (credit) PLUS a $46.00 enrollment fee PER UNIT (CREDIT). You're going to have to figure out what courses you'll take, how many units each course is and do the math to see if you can afford this right now or need to wait and save up money and enroll when it's financially doable.
You are urged strongly to call/communicate with Diablo Valley Colleges' International Student Office and get the information from an official there so that you are guided 100% correctly as we are not representatives of any college.
The only way you'll be able to know is to call the college directly at (925) 969-2182 or (925) 685-1230. Their address is 321 Golf Club Road, Student Services Center, SSC 248, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. That is all the information that I can provide for you and the best advice that I can provide.

I've seen some great answers on this one, Angy, but I just thought of another idea: what if you designate a "guardian" to be responsible for your expenses during the program? You would likely need to include their proof of funds and a letter explaining the situation, authorizing that person to cover your expenses.
I'm not entirely sure if this would be accepted, but it might be worth asking the DVC if this could be a suitable option.
