I want to be a nurse, but what are good and bad things about being a nurse?

I’m am a middle school girl, ever since I was little I’ve always liked helping others when they needed it and I’ve been growing up becoming a much older girl so, I had told myself since I liked helping so much why don’t I be a nurse, I never experienced being a nurse but I just wanted to know what are good and bad thing about being a nurse?

Nursing can be an amazing career, but like any job, it has ups and downs. Some good things: you get to make a real difference in people’s lives, it’s a respected profession, and there are many areas you can specialize in (pediatrics, ER, ICU, etc.). Nurses are also in high demand, so job security is strong.

Some challenges are the long hours, being on your feet a lot, and dealing with stressful or emotional situations. It can be physically and emotionally tiring at times. But many nurses say that the rewards of caring for patients and seeing them recover outweigh the tough parts.

Since you’re still in middle school, the best thing you can do is focus on your science classes, maybe volunteer or shadow in healthcare settings later, and talk to nurses when you get the chance. That way you’ll get a realistic picture of what the job is like.

I was a PCA. For awhile (I say awhile because outside issues in my personal life cost me having to leave not by choice)) and I can honestly say I 💯 loved the career as a whole... It can be very, very rewarding.. It does however have its moments. When I was a PCA. I was able to make my own schedule. You also said you have a love of helping others. This field of work would be perfect for you. You having a passion to help others, is the first requirement. People say "You can make a bucket of money", It's not about the money... It should NEVER be about the money, it's should always be about the person you're taking care of and THEIR care. I would go back to doing health Care totally... The drawback is the long hours, some nurses say there is never enough coverage due to being overworked. There is however a lot that they don't tell you..... The residents are known to bite you, pull your hair, or anything they can grab ahold of (never wear anything that can be pulled, pushed or grabbed at) artificial nails are definitely a big no no (choking hazard), Some of the residents can be very nice, others not so much. You will however learn a lot on the job. You will get to know the residents or if you work in a doctor's office, the patients by name and them as a person... Not a condition or an aliment. Being a nurse will open many, many doors for advancement. The schooling is fun. You learn such things as first aide and CPR, phlebotomy, anatomy and physiology. You also learn a lot about the human body. You also learn a lot about how germs can effect someone in many ways.

Look for a nursing program in your area like a local adult education center, adult learning places offer classes and it's usually 2 weeks for 5 days a week
Look into colleges that offer courses in Nursing as well

In every profession, there are pros and cons but one unique thing you should know is that if being a nurse is your passion then you will enjoy every bits of working as a nurse.

Good Day Sophia c! I have always thought that doctors and nurses are incredibly wonderful people! They help through the best and worst stages of our lives! You can quantify the bad things about being a nurse readily! They are bereavement and death of a patient. There are also the things like soiled bed linen and copious bleeding. Defibrillation and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR] are no mean feats either because you do not know whether the patient will live or die. Another is an Acute Psychotic Episode of psychiatric patient, when they are a danger to themselves and others. The best experience for a nurse would be in neonatal care, with the birth of a new life! What we all hope for is the recovery of patients, they get better! The nurses are our modern-day saints!
