What would help me get into good marine bio schools?
What could I do to help me get into good Marine Biology/science schools? Such as volunteering and possible research opportunities that would be affordable? What would also be good courses I could do? I don’t live near the water or any aquariums. I am currently in 9th grade.

Hi Blaire,
In Birmingham, AL, you have the McWane Science Center. That's about 140 miles from Phenix or a 2.5 hour drive. You have the Alabama Aquarium on Dauphin Island near Mobile. It's about 350 miles away which means a good 5 hours drive. And in New Orleans you have the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. That's about 400 miles or 5.5 hours of driving. Maybe your parents are able to take you on a trip some day. It would be a great experience. Check for educational resources and summer camps at these places.
You can find some summer programs and internships here:

While you are in high-school, maintain a good GPA, focus on science courses like biology, chemistry and physics, but also math. Take AP courses if you can. Check out Community Colleges near you for any courses that you can take as dual enrolment courses so you can earn college credits while you are in high-school.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
