What Colleges in California have majors in education?

I'm currently in 10th grade and have to make a college list. While searching for colleges I have mainly only seen colleges have such majors for masters degrees, etc. I want to teach elementary aged children and want to know how to go around that in regard to the degrees I need. I would like to stay in state as I plan to teach in California and would want to get an idea of colleges I can apply to that range from high reach to easily attainable.

Let's start with Joseph's answer. He provided a good link.

And yes, I would concentrate on an educational institution that offers an eduction major.

Secondly, I would recommend you visiting some of the elementary schools in your area, both public and private.

It is probably best to call and perhaps make an appointment stating that you would like to talk to some of the teachers. With a little luck, something can be set up.

Dress appropriately, of course.

I would talk to them about their educational experiences and ask for any advise they may be able to offer. After all, they went through the educational process. And ask re the problems they encountered as well as their opinion of the plusses.

And with a little bit of more luck, you may be asked to attend a class to observe how the teachers organize and offer their students their educational opportunities. And again, problems? Plusses?

In my opinion, getting first hand information from people working in the field can give a prospective elementary teacher information that, in all probability, cannot be given elsewhere.

Another advantage you have, is you're in tenth grade, and therefore time to explore and think your way through this.

Madhu’s Answer

First of all, I think your interest in becoming a teacher, specifically, an elementary school teacher, is commendable. Since you are thinking about it in 10th grade, you have the time to shape your journey.
I would recommend going to your elementary school and reconnecting with your teachers. Learn about their journey to become one in California. Then, armed with that information, you can find your own path using the other responses in this thread.

Joseph’s Answer

That's very broad as ALL of the colleges pretty much have Education as a major or minor in some category. It all depends on where you live or whether you want to do school away from home. We need more teachers, so I want to thank you for wanting to major in this area.

This may provide you some good information.
