How can I prepare for a future FBI career while studying forensic examination at WVU, and how do I find internships as a freshman?

I’m a freshman at West Virginia University, majoring in forensic examination, and I’m interested in a future career with the FBI. I don’t have much experience yet, but I’m passionate about crime scene investigation and forensic science. I want advice on what classes, skills, internships, or opportunities I should focus on early so I can build a strong foundation for my career.

Fellow Mountaineer here! Local police have offered internships to WVU students in the past. Until you narrow down your area of emphasis, I would work with your advisor to discover opportunities that are available for freshman/rising sophomores. Another tip I like is including any class projects on your resume, while you're still a student. This can show that you have classroom/project experience and might make you stand out as a stronger candidate since those experiences can help transfer over into the field.
