I major in psychology because I loved the thought of working with people. Somewhere along the way that transitioned into a sales role. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to use my education at first, but then I found I was able to utilize it when training and supporting my staff. It was also beneficial When trying to convince customers to work with me.
At this point in my life, I can’t imagine doing anything else. My days are never the same and I get to travel around basically helping people. It is a nice thing to truly enjoy what you do.

A wise person once wrote: “…Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” This notion is the mantra I live by. Indeed, consistently doing what truly makes you happy is a key ingredient to success. It’s a proven fact that most people will devote more time and energy to a task if they truly enjoy it. Therefore, it’s extremely important during these formative years, to pick a career you genuinely love or have an interest in. I can attest to this because I love what I do, both professionally and entrepreneurially. It’s a great feeling.
Of course, the contrast to loving what you do, is falling out of love with what you do. That outcome is entirely plausible, driven by a variety of possible reasons. When you come to the point where you dislike what you do, then that’s when a career or educational change should be considered.
To answer your specific question about your current college major: one way to know if you truly love what you do is by looking at your performance. If you’re thriving in class, grasping most of the concepts, and earning solid grades, that’s a strong sign you’re where you need to be. If you haven't begun taking classes in your major/concentration yet, consider talking to others who have and see what their feedback is. You can also check out the syllabi for those classes and begin reading up on articles and books in your planned field.
At the end of the day, do what’s best for you and prayerfully, things will all work out!

Hi,
This is a great question. This all come from passion and your interest in any area. Being in your dream career helps enrich your life because you have job satisfaction and it's not like you are going for work every day, it's like you are following your passion and living each day with your own personal purpose.
Your dream career can change due to multiple factors, only if you let it change. It all depends on you! and on you and how you think, what you prioritize and believe in. Sometimes ppl has family pressure, and they need to change places etc., sometimes due to health reasons they cannot continue what they are doing or if they have to take care of their loved ones. So, what you prioritize matters and that directly! affects your life.
Hope it answers your question. One advice- never to lose faith in your abilities in what you can do and always follow your heart! :)
Thanks n Regards, Sweata

Hi there! When I was a kid, I loved playing with electronic devices. I found out I could take them apart and put them back together. I didn't realize then that this would lead to my career. I went to college and got degrees in Digital Electronics and Management of Information Systems. That early interest, even with a few electric shocks, guided me into a wonderful career. I've been with Verizon for 37 years now! Think about what you've enjoyed in life and see if there's a career waiting for you in that area. You can do it!
