Hi Alex! I encourage you to also remember that most all jobs that you could get as a freshman will help build relevant skillsets in the market place if you're thoughtful on how you present it on your resume! For example - I was a bartender for the summer for my first few years until I was able to get a true internship with a company, it allowed me to share how I dealt with difficult customers, created relationships, focused on upselling my customers (business minded) and understood how everyone plays a role in a restaurant. Find something you think you could have fun doing and don't worry too much about it being the RIGHT job and ensure you are getting the most out of it :)

Hi Alex. Getting a paid summer internship as a college freshman can seem difficult, but it's definitely possible if you take the right steps. The main thing to remember is that employers don't expect freshmen to have a lot of experience. Instead, they look for students who are eager to learn, responsible, and willing to work hard.

Your goal is to show that you have potential, even if your resume is still small. You need to think about what you already know and what you've already done. This can include class projects, volunteer work, part-time jobs, or skills you've learned on your own, like using certain computer programs. These experiences may seem simple, but they show that you are active and developing useful abilities. Put these on your resume and make sure it looks clear and easy to read. Also, your LinkedIn profile should match your resume and include a short description of who you are and what you're interested in studying or exploring.

Networking is one of the best ways to find paid internships. You can talk to your professors, academic advisors, and your school's career center. They often know about opportunities meant for younger students. Make sure to attend campus career fairs as well, since they're a great place to meet recruiters and learn about openings you might not find online. Wishing you the best of luck!

Hi Alex! I agree with everyone else. Finding the right paid job might be tough, but you can definitely do it! Most jobs offer great chances to learn and discover your interests, and they help you build skills for the future. Even if a job doesn't match your major perfectly, it still has value. You'll learn to handle tricky situations, manage your time, work in teams, and more. If you can't find a job that directly fits your major, that's okay! Choose something you enjoy, and you'll gain valuable experience. When updating your resume, focus on what you've achieved in college and even high school, like teamwork, leading projects, and handling different tasks. Your eagerness to learn and gain experience will surely attract employers. Good luck!

Hi Alex, finding a paid internship in your freshman year can be tough, but it's definitely possible. Many others have done it, so keep looking for opportunities. Your interest in a paid internship shows a great attitude, which businesses love. Payment reflects your value to the company.

Start by listing your skills from past experiences, events, training, or hobbies. Use this list to create a resume that highlights how you can help businesses succeed. Share your resume with teachers, professors, friends, and mentors for advice and guidance.

If you don't get results from your immediate network, reach out to friends of friends. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen this year. Every experience adds to your skills and personality, and you'll build a strong network. Your hard work now will lead to better opportunities next year. Good luck!

From my point of view, there are two main ways to find internships: (a) using job boards and (b) reaching out to people directly, like on LinkedIn. Option b might be your best chance for finding a paid internship. I suggest contacting people who do work you find interesting to learn more about what they do. This can be a great way to discover new opportunities.
