Hello, building and growing your own business is an awesome path. However, it is full of challenges and a lot of hard work over a long period of time. Early in your career, getting a lot of practical experience working for an architecture firm that is similar to the one you want to start would be a significant advantage. You'll get paid to learn what works and what doesn't work in running a successful company. Other than, gaining deep experience on the architecture side, I would suggest taking on extra responsibility, even if you are not paid, to learn all aspects of running the business. This could include, HR, Finance, Marketing, Sales, Legal etc. All of these functions will need to be taken care of in your business. They often times are not the fun part, but will be critical to the success of a long term growing business.
Make sure you do a great job, at your core role, but sprinkling in these extra ways to learn will set you apart. Good luck!!!

Thank you for your question. I am glad to know you would like to become an entrepreneur.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Have you ever thought about what industry you would like to start your business? Given you will pursue architecture, you can consider industry, e.g. architecture, interior design, property agents, property development, etc. You can find out more relevant industries.
2. Do some analysis on the industries, e.g. entry criteria, competition status, any alternative/substitute, etc.
3. Attend industry related courses and management courses
4. Work in the industry some time to understand the business model and establish people network
5. Start the business online first if possible
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hey Julia! While you're studying architecture, think about adding a minor in business or entrepreneurship. Start by choosing a good architecture school, as many also offer solid business programs where you can learn the basics.
Once you graduate, consider joining an architecture firm to understand how things work. Don't hesitate to ask lots of questions, both about your role and the business side. You might want to learn how firms find new clients and projects, what the main costs are, and what you need to start your own business. Remember, there are no silly questions, so keep asking. Being curious is valuable, and investing in yourself is always worthwhile. If you're interested, don't shy away from pursuing a business minor or even a second major.
