Look into your licenses , SIE, Series 7 etc. This will make you a better candidate if you are already licensed when you are applying. Some firms require it and some don't for entry level but if you want to move up you will need a license depending on what you choose of course!

Hi Gavin,
Building your knowledge and skills is key. Start by taking math, economics, and business classes in high school to get comfortable with numbers and problem-solving. Being curious about money markets and businesses will give you a great start.
When you get to college, try to find internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer work to gain real-world experience. Networking, asking questions, and learning from mentors can really help you grow.
Regarding salary, it can vary based on the job, where you live, and how much experience you have. You can check websites like Glassdoor.com for more details.

Hi Gavin. To be successful in finance, you need a mix of knowledge, practical experience, and good work habits. The first step is to learn the basics of finance, accounting, and economics. It's important to understand things like financial statements, investments, banking, etc. You can learn this in college classes, online courses, or by studying on your own. It's also important to practice using these skills. Working on real-life examples, case studies, or financial models helps you understand how what you learn in class works in the real world.
Getting practical experience is very helpful. Internships, part-time jobs, or volunteering with finance-related organizations give you a chance to apply what you've learned and meet people in the industry. These experiences also help you develop important skills like problem-solving, analyzing information, and communicating clearly.
It's also important to stay informed about the financial world. Read financial news, follow market trends, and understand changes in rules and regulations. This will help you make smart decisions and show that you are serious about the field.
Networking is another key to success. You can go to finance events, join professional organizations, and connect with alumni from your college. Good connections can help you get internships, advice, and career opportunities.

To build a strong future in finance, start by mastering the basics. Get comfortable with numbers, learn how money flows in the real world, and stay curious about banking, investing, and business. Focus on developing logical thinking, problem-solving, and clear communication skills, as these are more valuable than knowing complex formulas.
As you study, explore different areas of finance. Some people enjoy accounting or financial analysis, while others prefer investing, risk management, or data work. There is a place for everyone in this field.
You don’t need to know everything right away. Focus on building good habits, like being disciplined with your studies, asking questions, and keeping up with basic economic and financial news.
Regarding salaries, here's a general idea:
- Entry-level finance roles often start around $50,000–$70,000 a year in many countries.
- With experience or specialization in areas like investment banking, financial analysis, or corporate finance, salaries can reach six figures.
- Some roles, like investment banking or private equity, can pay even more due to bonuses, but they often involve long hours and high pressure.
Finance rewards those who keep learning, pay attention to detail, and stay consistent. If you enjoy solving problems and understanding how money impacts the world, you'll find your place in it.
