What are the best jobs for 15 year olds?

So, I've been wanting to get involved with more opportunities that cost money, for example, an honors society, visiting college campuses, supporting my new business, etc. Also, I want to help my mom pay the rent and save money for the future. The problem is that I can't find any jobs, and without a job, I'm unable to do any of the things I want to do. Additionally, another issue in this job search is that I don't have any relevant work experience. I am from NJ.

Please suggest some to me! Thank you very much!

Thank you for your question. Firstly, please check the local regulations allow you to work at the age of 15.
Below are a few suggestions:
1. Explore any working opportunities in your school, eg library, administration, etc.
2. Check with your neighbours any assistance they need, eg baby sitting, gardening, etc
3. Explore any working opportunities in the neighbourhood eg education centre, groceries, etc
4. Find working opportunities with chain stores, eg supermarket, fast food shop, etc.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hi Antah,

Thank you for this thoughtful question. It’s awesome that you’re motivated to work and support your goals—that’s a great mindset to have at 15! Even without prior work experience, there are definitely job opportunities that can fit your age and help you earn some money.

Some of the best jobs for 15-year-olds include babysitting, dog walking, pet sitting, and tutoring younger students if you’re strong in a particular subject. These jobs not only let you build experience but also give you flexibility and a way to connect with people in your community.

You might also want to check out local small businesses like coffee shops, supermarkets, or family-owned stores—some places hire younger employees depending on state labor laws, so it’s worth asking around. Since you’re in New Jersey, make sure to look into the state’s rules about teenage employment to know what’s allowed.

Another job I can think of is helping elderly neighbors with some chores such as shopping or cleaning. Even some people who are not elderly may need help with household chores.

When I was your age, I mostly tutored students in different subjects but one summer I was also a waitress in a coffee shop (though I think by then I was 16 or 17). I was also able to find a small project through my high school where they needed people to help organize a large conference. I had to print the name tags for the people who attended, organize them alphabetically etc. That job was just for a weekend but it paid well. There may be occasional events like that where people need help. Or you can find someone who does party planning and organizing and help them with planning birthdays, anniversaries etc.

Good luck!

It's awesome that you're so motivated to earn money for your goals and help out your family! It can feel tough to find a job at 15, especially without experience, but there are definitely options out there for you.

Many restaurants and fast-food places are great starting points because they often hire teens and provide training ¹. You could check out places like:
Baskin-Robbins - They hire team members at 15 to scoop ice cream and greet customers .
Chick-fil-A- Many locations hire 15-year olds for their front-of-house teams.
KFC You might be able to work as a customer service team member.
McDonald's Some locations hire 14 and 15-year-olds for their kitchen, counter, or maintenance crews.

Grocery stores are another fantastic option for a first job. Many chains hire teens as young as 14 or 15 for roles like bagging groceries, gathering carts, or working as a cashier. You could look into stores like Publix, Kroger, Winn-Dixie, or Safeway.

Beyond food service and grocery stores, you could also look into:
Amusement Parks Places like Six Flags sometimes hire 15-year-olds for jobs like park services or concessions workers.
Movie Theaters AMC sometimes hires 14 and 15-year-olds to sell tickets and work the concession stand.
The YMCA your local YMCA might have openings for camp counselors or other youth program roles.

Don't forget about starting your own thing! Since you mentioned a new business, you could earn money through babysitting, dog walking, pet sitting, or doing yard work like mowing lawns or raking leaves for neighbors. This is a great way to build experience on your own terms.

Thank you and Good luck

Consider exploring hostess jobs at nearby restaurants or trying out a position at a smoothie or ice cream shop. These places often welcome young workers. Don't hesitate to pick up the phone and give them a call to ask if they're hiring. When you do, ask to speak to a manager. You've got this!
