How do I successfully pursue a hip-hop dance side gig?
I am not planning to major in dance at university, but I still want to pursue hip-hop dance as one of my passions and as a side gig. What are some tips so that I can successfully network and break into the industry, considering I will not be able to do it full-time? I am currently considering moving to either NYC, London, or Seoul. Any advice related to this that is specific to any of these three cities is much appreciated as well.

You can definitely pursue hip hop dance as a side gig, even if you're busy with school or another job. Many dancers build successful careers this way. The trick is to make dance a regular part of your life. Attend classes, workshops, and community events often so people get to know you and trust you. Being consistent is more important than the number of hours you train each week.

Posting your dance videos online can also boost your visibility. Share clips from classes, freestyle sessions, or choreography videos to show your style and progress. You don't need a big following, just regular posts that display your growth and dedication.
Each city offers something unique. New York City has a fast-paced, competitive scene with lots of open classes and auditions, so being versatile is key. London is known for its strong studio culture and choreography, where long-term relationships and crews matter. Seoul focuses on performance teams and polished group work, influenced by the K-pop industry, so precision and teamwork are crucial.
