Does that work of a roofer pay off after the project?

Hi, my name is Esteban and I am a Jr. high student from Crane Middle School and I am wanting to be a roofer. I want to be a roofer because I have seen videos of how they are on top of houses and they just put wood on the roof. I also wonder if there are strict rules that could get me fired if I don’t follow the. I also want to know if there are some tips I could use being a roofer that everyone should know but most people don’t. Thank you for reading.

Working in construction installing roofs is a good trade and it will always be in demand. Regarding the strict rules that you asked about, there are rules in regards to the demolition/removal of the old roof that must be followed in addition to the way a new roof is installed. A permit is required to be pulled at the Department of Public Works at the city for both new and replacement roofs, which notifies the Department of Building and Safety about the project. The Department of Building and Safety will send city staff to inspect the work of the roofers and if not done properly, will notify your contracting company to demo the work done and redo it properly. There are standard safety procedures that are followed and there should be a safety manual provided by your employer and safety training done in advance. Most contractors have safety meetings before the start of every work day to keep the safety practices fresh of mind.

Roofing work can be hard on the body after many years as it is labor intensive, but it does pay well with hourly rates being fairly good in addition to overtime pay (1 1/2 times the regular hourly rate) and fringe benefits such as vacation time, pension/retirement savings, etc.

I see that you live in Arizona, so keep in mind that the work will be challenging during the warmer months. Typically work will begin early in the morning to avoid working during the hottest parts of the day for all 8 hours.
