I love your big-picture goals that focus on achievable steps to help you succeed. Your question was impressive, and your mindset will give you a big advantage in anything you pursue in life!
When it comes to building "performance" skills, Ibrahim & Al have shared some great starting points.
I want to add that while many think of acting or broadcasting as having a "broadcast voice" or dramatic flair, the most important skill is being able to relax and be yourself. Good diction, breath control, and posture are important, but truly connecting with an audience means being uniquely you. That's your edge—no one else can bring what you offer.
So, how do you achieve this? Practice! Read aloud every day, partner with friends on scripts, join suggested groups, and try improv.
Improv is an amazing skill builder for actors, public speakers, and life in general. It helps you get out of your head and not sound like a typical storyteller. It frees your mind and heart, offering a fresh perspective on every part of your career.
You're already doing all the right things to set yourself up for success! Wishing you all the best!

- Confidence & presence: Acting teaches you how to feel comfortable in front of an audience or camera. As a journalist, this helps you look natural and trustworthy on screen.
- Voice control: You’ll learn how to speak clearly, use tone, and keep people engaged this is huge for reporting.
- Emotional connection: Good actors connect with their audience. As a journalist, this helps you tell stories in a way people care about.
- Body language: Small things like eye contact, posture, and facial expressions make a big difference on camera.
Here are a couple of simple steps you can start with:
1. Practice speaking on camera (even with your phone). Try reading news stories out loud and watch yourself back.
2. Join school activities like drama club, debate, or announcements these give real experience performing and speaking.
You’re already thinking in the right direction by combining acting with journalism that’s a powerful combo. Keep going, you’re on a great path!
