Start cooking! Try and experiment with different recipes from cultures around the world. Go to your local farmers market (if you can) and try cooking with new vegetables/meat that are fresh. It's important to know what food looks like in it's original form to familiarize yourself with how to process it-this includes everything from brussel sprouts on the stalk to a whole chicken!
You could also try getting a job (once you're old enough) in a kitchen to see if you really do enjoy the work. Cooking is fun.. but stressful too!
I would check out the different culinary schools around the country that are well known for their education and see what they offer in terms of scholarship.
If you're only in 6th grade you have plenty of time!
