So the type of nurse who normally does botox and other cosmetic procedures is called an aesthetic/cosmetic nurse. The career path is pretty straight forward:
- Become a registered nurse (through a 2 year or 4 year program)
- Pass the NCLEX
- Gain experience and optionally obtain specific certificates like CANS (Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist) or specialized Botox certifications/courses

You can read more about the full process here: https://nurse.org/resources/how-to-become-aesthetic-cosmetic-nurse/

With that being said, you can most likely just major in nursing and then go from there!

Some things to note:
- Look closely at the requirements for the state you want to practice in to see exactly what they require of you in order to go down this path!

Jodie’s Answer

The best type of nursing for doing Botox isn’t a specific major, but rather gaining a strong clinical foundation and patient care experience. Most aesthetic injectors start as Registered Nurses (RNs), and the most beneficial backgrounds are in areas like emergency nursing, ICU, dermatology, plastic surgery, or medical aesthetics.

These specialties help build skills in assessment, anatomy, patient communication, and working under pressure. All of these options translate well into aesthetic injecting. After becoming an RN, additional hands-on training and certification in neurotoxins and facial anatomy are essential.

Overall, the most important path is becoming a skilled, confident nurse first, then specializing in aesthetics through training and experience.
