What major I should choose for Pre PA. ?
I am currently enrolled in the CC program and My goal is to become a PA. I planned to earn a bachelor degree after I graduate from the CC program so what major should I choose for Pre PA. People said Public health and Biology degree are best option .What are other options other than these two ?

Hi pyi,
I'm a primary care internal medicine PA, and my undergraduate major was sports and health sciences. You can major in anything in undergrad to be eligible to apply to PA schools as long as you have completed the prerequisite courses required by the PA programs you want to apply to. In that sense, a biology major could be handy because many common PA school prerequisites would already be part of a typical biology program, such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and statistics. You can certainly complete some or all of your prerequisites at a college college, like I took genetics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry courses at a community college. So, I would encourage you to pick a major that you think you will enjoy the most. Many majors (and minors) would be valuable for pre-PAs, PA students, and PAs, so if you're leaning towards specific majors, you're welcome to reach out to me with questions.

When I started my undergrad degree I was first a Biological Sciences major at my school and as I was taking classes I realized the prerequisites needed for most PA schools was better under a Biomedical Sciences degree so I switched over to that. However, I was able to minor in Biological Sciences and Business Administration since I still wanted to take a variety of classes. Honestly, looking back at you truly can pick any major you want as long as you complete your prerequisites for PA school applications. I think most people lean towards a science major because it is convenient for the prerequisites we need to apply to school. I met people in my PA school that were an English major in undergrad and even a Math major because they enjoyed it so much and still were able to get the classes they needed to apply to PA school. As you're taking classes in CC, I would explore classes that interest you so that can help you make a decision when you have to establish a major later on for a Bachelor's degree. Hope that helps!
