In today's busy healthcare world, nurses can make things better by treating everyone with respect, listening carefully, and understanding that some people might be scared to speak up or worry about money. Nurses can help by using easy words, asking questions that let people talk, encouraging them to share their worries, and making sure they understand what's happening with their health and what choices they have. It's also important to connect patients with translators, social workers, help with money, and community support if needed. By building trust and standing up for patients, nurses create a place where people feel listened to, respected, and more sure about handling their care.

This works because it shows both caring and practical help, which are key parts of being a nurse. Better talking and support can help patients follow advice, feel less scared, and get better results.

As someone who hopes to become a nurse. I believe one of the greatest responsibilities of the profession is to be a voice for those who feel they don't have one. Every patient deserves quality care, kindness and respect no matter their background or financial circumstances

It is amazing that you want to be a nurse. That is a very noble and service oriented choice you have made.

For a job like nursing, the most important quality or attribute you need is compassion and empathy. Feeling for others and putting yourself in their shoes should give you some direction how you can help them.

One of my cousins, who is also in medical profession, told me that when he attends to patient, he always thinks of them as his grandparents and then serving them and taking care of them becomes very easy. You can also co-relate the patients to any elderly , or friend in your life. This helps you empathize better with the patient and then they become one of you own. Talk to them as you would talk to any of your family member.

You can also apply the same to the "affording healthcare" point you made. Treat is like as if it were your own money as insurance premium, what choice of medication or treatment would you take.

Remember, you can only be as good to others as good you are to yourself. So , in this profession let it be an extension as if they were your very own.

Hello Ariya,

That is a wonderful question and very important.

Keep in mind peoples knowledge of the medical system, it does not always match their education level in school. Remember to give thorough explanations and remain non judgmental on topics that you may think are common sense.

And most importantly be human. We are all human first.
