What classes or credits do I need in college, and what type of job or internship would be best? How can I limit the time and cost of school?

I agree with volunteering so you can have experience and see if the actual care is something you enjoy long term.

I found volunteering to be the best route to get valuable hands on experience with animals. Check out the local equine vets and rescues, there are most likely opportunities for any skill level. The earlier you start the better, good luck!
