It's always important to remember that we always have the choice to define what "success" is and there is always time to change your mind. In response to your question, success here has been defined as obtaining a scholarship & going to university to study and hopefully have a strong career. For scholarships, there are plenty of options. I think people tend to focus on the "big" scholarships, like schools that will provided full-rides or partial funding based on either academics, sports, etc. But there is also the option for small scholarships that can add up and make a big difference. There are plenty of resources, and I would recommend working with a school counselor, that you can apply for $1-5k scholarships based on certain initiatives & extracurriculars. I wouldn't put too much pressure to on yourself or an expectation that you have to get a good scholarship, I would just focus on what you like to learn/do, find what you are passionate about, and work with the people around you for questions and support. Use high school as a chance to focus on grades, while also taking an effort to become well-rounded and involved. It's experiences, volunteering, leadership opportunities, sports, etc. that schools also consider to show your drive.

Success means something different to everyone, which is why I think the first step is deciding what success looks like for you. For some people it's earning a high salary, but for others it's being happy, helping others, having a career they enjoy, or making a positive impact in their community.
You're already asking great questions, especially as an 8th grader. The fact that you're thinking about your future now is a huge advantage.
If you're interested in scholarships, focus on doing your best in school, getting involved in activities you enjoy, volunteering when you can, and developing leadership skills over time. Colleges and scholarship organizations often look for students who are well-rounded and make a positive impact.
Since you enjoy technology, keep exploring that interest through classes, clubs, projects, or online learning opportunities. You don't need to have your entire future figured out right now. Focus on learning, growing, and discovering what excites you. The rest will become clearer with time.

There is literally only one thing you have to do to be successful- DON'T QUIT. If you have a goal and a general idea of what industry you want to work in then spend all your free time learning and refining your skills and knowledge. As you learn, you'll find out about more jobs that you could do and will meet people with similar interests and mindsets. As long as you don't stop chasing the dream, there's literally no reason why you won't be successful. But also realize that as you go on your journey, your definition of success might change.

Many people think they need a scholarship to attend college, but there are many other paths you can take. Starting at a junior college and living at home can help you complete your basic courses affordably. Financial aid is also available for those who need it, including grants for families with lower incomes. Student loans are another option, and you have 10-20 years to repay them. If you're interested in scholarships, consider your strengths. If you're athletic, a sports scholarship might be right for you. If you excel in academics, an academic scholarship could be a great fit. Be sure to explore the scholarships offered in your city and state.

Since you’re in 8th grade, you have plenty of time to prepare for college and scholarships. Focus first on earning strong grades by developing good study habits and asking for help when you need it. If you’re interested in technology, take math, science, and computer classes whenever possible, and explore coding, robotics, or other tech-related activities outside of school.
To improve your chances of earning a university scholarship, stay involved in extracurricular activities, volunteer in your community, and look for leadership opportunities in clubs or organizations. As you get older, prepare for the PSAT, SAT, or ACT if the colleges you’re interested in consider test scores. Many scholarships also require essays, so practicing your writing skills can be very beneficial.
You don’t have to decide on a major right now. Continue exploring your interests while building a strong academic record and staying involved in meaningful activities. Starting early and remaining consistent will give you a strong foundation for college and scholarship opportunities.
