How is the Work/life balance as an Radiologist?
I am a rising Junior in college, and I am still deciding whether to attend medical school or PA school. I have always seen myself becoming a Dr. one day, but I was recently introduced to the PA side and how flexible it can be.

Hi Tylor! Radiology is generally considered one of the better specialties for work-life balance, although it depends on the type of radiology you choose and where you practice. Many radiologists have predictable schedules, high earning potential, and the option to work remotely by reading imaging studies from home. That said, the path is long; medical school, a radiology residency, and often additional fellowship training. If you’re deciding between becoming a physician or a PA, I’d think about what you enjoy most. If diagnosing complex cases, interpreting imaging, and taking on the full responsibility of being a physician excites you, medical school may be worth the commitment. If you’re looking for a shorter training path with more flexibility to change specialties throughout your career, PA is a great option as well. Neither path is better than the other, it really comes down to what kind of responsibilities, lifestyle, and career you’re hoping to have. If possible, I’d recommend shadowing both a radiologist and a PA before deciding. Seeing what their day-to-day work is actually like can make the decision much clearer.
