What are some good career pathways that can incorporate art and construction?

I went to community college and started my associates in BFA, but a lot of careers in art aren't my preferred career. I also do intend to finish that associates. I also like to use my hands to build and make things. I would also like to have my own business one day

Hi Royal,

Have you considered training to be an exhibit preparator/art handler for a museum or gallery? That would involve building crates and packing works, and setting up exhibitions, including some construction tasks. There are also art shipping businesses that would offer similar work.

Or maybe you could think about working as a theater tech, building sets and setting up and taking down shows.

Also, I have an artist friend who works with a guy who builds all her crates and helps her get her shows shipped, and I'm sure other artists have similar needs. If I could afford it, I'd hire a woodworker to help me build prototypes and sculptural bases too. For that matter, maybe picture framing would work. You could train with a pro and then open your own business; I know someone who used to work for American Swedish Institute here in Minneapolis, and now he has his own framing business.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head here. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Hope you get some great suggestions!
