Rachel’s Answer
Attending classes at a community college, choosing a state school, and applying to all scholarships available can minimize cost. That being said, many students graduate from med school with around $500,000 of student loan debt.

Will becoming a pediatrician, the two major cost you need to think about our college and medical school. The cost of both of those can vary widely. If you go to an expensive private college, you can expect A bill of anywhere between $200,000-$300,000. However, if you go to a public college you can expect your bill to be well under $100,000. Thankfully I was able to receive a substantial amount of scholarships, so my bill was substantially lower. Medical school is the same. If you go to a private college it’s going to be very expensive, but if you go to a public school, you can expect to pay well under $100,000. Unfortunately, it’s a little bit harder to get scholarships in medical school. However, once you get into a residency for pediatrics, you’ll earn a salary and start doing what you love. Pediatrics is it for filling a great career, and I wish you the best of luck!
Dr. Archer - Your advice is right on point with my son's experienced as a Pediatrician (now in a fellowship program). Thank you for sharing the info.
