Richard’s Answer

There are no easy specialties! Getting through college, medical school and residency takes hard work.

However, there are some specialties that require less night call (dermatology), less patient interaction (radiology and pathology), and less hassling with insurance companies (plastic surgery).

Rachel’s Answer

Surgical subspecialties tend to be better paying than medicine specialties. However, I would recommend choosing a profession that you enjoy. The "easiest job" is the one that you look forward to doing every day.

Valerie’s Answer

Dear Henry,
There are no easy specialties in medicine. As a medical student, I have seen most specialities and all physicians work insanely hard. If you don't want to be around patients, pathology might be for you. I would really think hard about going to medical school if you are looking for an easy job. There are lots of other careers that have less schooling that you can make a good living with. I would only go into medicine if you want to physically help people and love medicine. It is a long road to become a physician, and you have to really love what you do to make it through.
To better answer your question:
currently the highest paid specialty is a neurosurgeon, as you can see brain surgery is not easy at all, so they are compensated for their hard work.
Pediatrics is one of the least paid specialities, but their work is also just as hard! Trying to treat sick kids is no easy task.
Best of luck and really think to yourself why you want to become a doctor!

Estelle’s Answer

The "easiest" specialty is the one that you enjoy. For example, performing surgery is very physically challenging but super interesting. When in medical school, you will find the rotations that interest you, and the income will follow because you will be invested in your work.

Steve’s Answer

Hello Henry,

I'm not a doctor, and I don't even work in health care, but I do have an answer for you. Which job pays the most or is the easiest should NOT be your top criteria for selecting a career! You're going to be spending more time at work than any other aspect of your life, so focus on picking something that you are *passionate* about and will be excited to pursue every day. When you love what you do, that insures you'll be great at doing it, and be happy as well as recognized for your expertise and accomplishments.

Good luck!

Natasha’s Answer

Acquiring the knowledge and rigorous training necessary to become a doctor in the U.S. is about a 12-year process: there is no easy.
While financial rewards matter in our society's framework of success, it is not enough as a motivation into medicine.
If you are thinking of 'best paying' areas of medicine, that specialty is likely to be competitive and not necessarily.
Perhaps a cosmetic/plastic surgeon?

Extensive research and guidance from your school's career office is highly suggested.
