Charlie’s Answer

suggest the two year program then the national exam (ie ASCP) then get a job in the area you want (chemical or medical) and go to school at the same time for your 4 year degree and National exam. The only way you can advance is with a 4 year degree. Up the chain of command. I know folks that want only to be a bench tech and are happy there. While working there will be time to make sure that the laboratory is the place for you also. I have really enjoyed my 50 years in the laboratory and have seen others do the same, however there were others who needed to be someplace as certain else. Work toward the degrees and gain the knowledge and you will be happy you did.
