Hi Victoria,

The best options that I've found are purchasing textbooks from past students through Facebook pages. You should search up on school on Facebook and see if they have a buy-and-sell page. For instance, I go to UCSB, so there is a "UCSB Free/For Sale" page on Facebook. Students are always selling old textbooks for super cheap!

You can also sometimes email your professor, and in some instances, they have extra copies of the textbooks for students to borrow or even send you a free PDF! I have emailed several of my professors, and they are usually happy to help if possible.

Hello Andreas,

This is a great question!

I would recommend renting your textbook online. I would use Amazon and Chegg, but wait until the first day because sometimes you do not need the textbook.
Also, there will be times when you need to purchase a new textbook because you are required to get an access code. So, you will have to submit online homework and this happened for my science and some of my business classes.

Best,
Edwin

Andreas’s Answer

I always bought my books on Half.com or eBay.
You can also find textbooks for sale from upperclassmen who have finished the course on campus bulletin boards or classifieds.
