How can I make college affordable

College is very important to me and I know I am going even though it is beyond expensive. As of right now I have to pay for college on my own without my parents assistance. I am currently working and applying for scholarships when ever I get the chance but I was curious if their are any other things I am able to do? #job-search #scholarships #financial-aid

I would recommend taking as many basic courses at a junior college that you know for certain will transfer. Transfer to your college of choice after the 2 years to complete your actual degree program.

If you need to work while in school, find a company that offers tuition assistance to help pay for school while you are employed.

Kim’s Answer

Three things come to mind:

  1. Go to a junior college for your basics, rather than straight to a university. They are less expensive.

  2. Join the military. There are lots of opportunities for educational assistance in the military, if that is something you are willing to consider.

  3. Find a job, ANY job, with a company that has tuition assistance. It's okay to work in the housekeeping or dietary departments at a hospital, for example, if they are going to give you tuition reimbursement. Check the Human Resources web pages of large companies, gov't agencies, hospitals, schools, etc for employee benefits programs.

Good luck to you!
