Katherine’s Answer

Everything that we do has an impact on patients! We are changing lives in small or big ways by improving quality of life with meddeviceengineering. As far as human contact day to day, medical device engineering is very collaborative and not generally laboratory based. So this would be a good option if you want to have more of a team atmosphere. If you don't want human contact, you could look at more researched based or looking at companies that are doing remote only (given the latest environment).

Nancy’s Answer

Alexander, I think that would depend upon the nature of the projects you choose to work on as an engineer. Certainly there are opportunities to work in laboratories with this degree. There may be many or fewer other people nearby. Some biomedical engineers may work with patients in designing prosthetic devices or therapeutic equipment, necessitating more human contact. There are many opportunities in this field.
