What is the best way to determine if your major is the best major for you?

I recently thought I found the perfect major and minor. I was really excited to finally go from #undecided to declaring my current major/minor, Apparel Merchandising and Product Development/Marketing. I was glad to finally share my decision with family and friends, only to have them make me second doubt myself. #counselor #academic-advisor

Hi Jasmine! That's a genuine doubt we all have had at one point of time. If I were in your shoes, I will try to talk to people who took your major and already working or in their final year of their degree making career plans. If you imagine yourself living a tad bit closer to them in future, you might have a better idea how its gonna be in future. If that doesn't sound like you would want to do that in your future, then it may not be your cup of tea!
This may not be a great solution but atleast it might help you get clarity of what you want to see yourself as!

Jasmine, if you do what Sesha has suggested and feel good about what you may do with your major, it may help to tell your family and friends that what you will learn will be applicable to many fields and businesses. Marketing and merchandising happen in everything from health care to fashion. If you can convey how your skills apply, employers will be interested in you, no matter the business. It also may help to remember that what others may have visualized for you may not be the same as the you that you are becoming. That is normal. The you that you are becoming will convince them once they see you blossom.
