Hello Tierra. You should consider taking healthcare classes that will allow you to gain knowledge about working in the healthcare field. You should also take a health class. You should also consider taking human anatomy. Other recommendations include psychology and sociology.

Take all the basic classes and excel in them. In high school, you're building and mastering the basic skills needed for academia which are required to do well in college. I don't think you need anything specific. College is when you start focusing more on the science/pre-med classes.

A good thing to take in high school would be some AP sciences classes such as AP Biology or AP Chemistry, or direct college credit courses if your school has that option. This is a great way to start preparing yourself for more difficult and demanding college level science courses, as well as to introduce you to the material. Also, any anatomy/physiology class or a genetics class would be helpful to help give you a good background and introduction to the material to hopefully make it a bit more familiar down the road.

Elizabeth’s Answer

I took as many AP and college credit courses that my school offered. I also made sure that the classes I took for dual credit would transfer as full credit and not just elective credit to the universities I was looking at. Look at the core requirements for the different universities as well and see what you can knock out of the way prior to enrolling in college. This will make it way easier to focus on the pre requisite course required for medical school and your classes for your major. And take a lot of science courses
