[closed] How is it to be a leader in what you do in life?

Hello,

I am a senior business major, and I have an interest in administration. My major is management, and Concordia University is teaching me the values about being a leader. I would like to strive to be a leader in my personal and professional life, so I would like to ask from the perspective of someone who is a professional leader in the area of management, or is a life coach. What is it like to be a leader, and how do you handle the responsibility?

Thank you for sharing,
Aimee #business #management #leadership

Hello Aimee,

You've asked a very good question, and in my opinion, a question that does not have a direct answer. You will receive different answers from different people and I'd suggest you take a little from each one. "What is it like to be a leader, and how do you handle the responsibility?".
In my opinion, a leader is someone that does not label themselves a "leader", but one that knows they are part of a team. A leader understands the team needs them, and they also need that team in order to accomplish whatever the common goal is. To handle the responsibly of leadership, is simply accomplished through humility.

I hope this helps. As others answer this question I suggest you gather information from each response, and begin to formulate your own leadership and management styles.

Hi Aimee,

Leadership is all about how you conduct yourself. You are a leader when somene "chooses: to follow you. Every manager is not a leader.

Here are a few behaviors I saved 2 years back from the internet:
1.  Make Others Feel Safe to Speak-Up
2.  Make Decisions
3.  Communicate Expectations
4.  Challenge People to Think
5.  Be Accountable to Others
6.  Lead by Example
7.  Measure & Reward Performance
8.  Provide Continuous Feedback
9.  Properly Allocate and Deploy Talent
10.  Ask Questions, Seek Counsel
11.  Problem Solve; Avoid Procrastination
12.  Positive Energy & Attitude
13.  Be a Great Teacher
14.  Invest in Relationships
15.  Genuinely Enjoy Responsibilities
