Hi Haley!

Good Question, I am actually a Registered Nurse AND I also work in the telecommunications industry as a software tester. Nursing was a second career for me! I am not sure what the requirements are where you live, but a good place to start would be to become a CNA (certified nursing assistant) and try and do some work as a registered CNA. From my experience, having work experience as a CNA definitely helped, both while in nursing school, but also helped those who had that experience land a job once they graduated from nursing school. If you don't want to do that, or can't, then I would suggest doing some volunteer work at a hospital. Most hospitals have volunteer work that are patient centered, so that would be good. Outside of that, make sure to do the best that you can as far as any pre-requisites required and be sure to practice math! My school required us to take nursing drug dosage calculation tests every semester!

Best of luck to you, and I hope you enjoy nursing as much as I do!! Nursing school is challenging, but it is definitely worth it! :)
