Randi’s Answer

I too considered working at a public versus a private school early in my career and learned that a private school offers a smaller student to teacher ratio allowing more focus on their education. Unfortunately employment opportunities in these settings are limited however if your goal is to be in academia both settings have something to offer.

Simeon’s Answer

From the people I've talked to, you generally get less support from the administration when you're in public school, so you're on your own as far as classroom management goes. However, you have access to most resources that are provided to the district as a whole. For private schools, you'll get more support in enforcing discipline, but there are also many more rules and traditions to follow in a private school. These are generalities. There are probably plenty of public and private schools that contradict these generalities.

Gopi’s Answer

I am not in education field however my sister in-law is teaching in Public school. It has both Pros and Cons. Ultimately it is depends on your priorities . Public school gives you more management of your class room while follow state's curriculum along with more opportunities and salary. Other side Private school, it depends on tuition and popularities and may have more pressure from board than public. Ultimately, get a hand on experience and learning from that is very important as teach shapes students lives so regardless of which school, it should always have more important in getting good experience/knowledge in teaching.

Nicholas’s Answer

I am not in the teaching industry, but two of my sister in law's are. One thing to consider economically, when deciding between public and private schools is that public schools will receive more funding from the state and are often more lucrative in terms of salary.

That being said, there are certainly pro's and con's to both. I would recommend shadowing and reaching out to family or friend connections at both public and private schools. The best method for me has always been to get first hand experience with someone in a profession.

I would say Government Oversight and Curriculum is primary factor where people choose private school than public schools. The government has less power over the day-to-day administration of private schools as compared to public schools
