[closed] What are management analytical abilities?

Hello,

I have a passion for learning more about the industry of office management. I am currently a student who studies business administration and business management. Therefore, I like to learn more about requesting information and knowledge in my spare time. This is my life and I am devoted to what I do. My curious nature and undefeatable spirit is leading me to continue forward in my dream of going into management. In some instances, managers in any field and niche need to know how to analyze situations, people, and numbers. What are some of the ways that they do this? I figured that managers can understand mathematics, statistics, and facts that will support their positions and presentations.

I appreciate your help. #business-administration #business-management #leadership #project-management #strategic-management #analytics

Great question! There are several ways to do this and it really depends on the manager's preferences in a lot of cases.

I will try to address each area you mentioned. As far as analyzing situations, it depends on the situation. If you are looking at a process that needs improvement, then you will use process analysis which basically is creating a flow diagram of the current process and identifying where the "fat" can be trimmed. If you are dealing with a situation of an unhappy customer or employee, you will need to first read your company's policies that apply to how to handle this, then apply those steps. Your management and HR are there to help with those situations. When trying to problem solve a situation, use your best and brightest folks to help you look at the situation and come up with ideas. Remember, the goal as a manager is to hire people that are smarter than you who can do the work and come to quick and valuable resolution. Use the resources you have on hand!

For analyzing people, there are several tests you can pick from to encourage your team to take to inform you of their personality and how they communicate as well as how they like to be communicated to. I like using the DISC survey and found it very helpful in working with employees. Again, in dealing with difficult situations with people, use your company resources and read books on different approaches on how to deal with difficult people. I read several and them took a bit from each of their suggestions to come up with my own approach to dealing with people.

For numbers, mathematics and statistics are important. Become knowledge about basic financial ratios and percentages that will inform you how your business is doing and where you can improve. These can simply be googled.

Hope this helps!
