Hello !

My advice to you would be to get a good profile onLinkedIn first. you might not have had any internships yet, but I'm sure there are some other extra curricular activities and school projects you've done that will make your profile stand out. Connect with as many people as you can and follow companies too, you will be amazed of the number of opportunities you can go across daily !
another thing that's very useful to do, is to send spontaneous applications and even call companies to see if they can have you for a month internship or so.

Last thing, I suggest you check novoresume.com, it has great templates for not just seniors, but students as well. Good luck !

If you're not aware of any internships right off the bat, it wouldn't hurt to reach out to your professors and see if they know where you might find internships in the fields they're teaching for. Additionally, you could try sending emails to the companies themselves and see if they are aware of anyone who offers internships. Lastly, make sure you're building a network of people in your field so that you have more ways to find out about internship opportunities.

Hey Irene,
The internship search can be such an exciting one! You have so many resources at your fingertips, and I’ve outlined just a few of them. This list just skims the surface, but it’s a great place to start.

LinkedIn
You may think it’s just for jobs, but there are many internship opportunities that are posted on LinkedIn. The search function is great, and you can see if you’re connected to anyone at the company! In addition, it’s a great networking tool for you to reach out to people you know and ask if their company is having any internships.

Internships.com
As the name indicates, this can be your main stop for tons of internship listings. You can search by location or by keyword / major.

Your college’s career center
Meeting with a career advisor can be very beneficial, as they can provide one-on-one guidance and support along your internship searching journey. They can also direct you to your school’s internship listing site. Many alumni will want to give back to their alma mater by inviting students to intern at their companies. You may have an in!

Indeed
Indeed lists jobs as well as internships -- and there are so many to choose from. You can even create a search alert according to the keywords you’re interested in so you receive an email right when a new one is posted.

VolunteerMatch.org
While this is a volunteer-match organization, having relevant volunteer experience on your resume can make you really stand out as a candidate. There are so many opportunities on this site for you to give back to those in need, and be able to list it on your resume if it’s relevant!

Reaching out directly
It’s no secret that a lot of internship positions are filled by someone who knows someone. So, work your connections! Make a list of people you know that work at local companies you’d be interested in interning with. Don’t be afraid to reach out to them directly and ask if their office needs any help, and outline the skills you could contribute.

Best of luck to you in your internship search -- it can be fun, frustrating, and rewarding all at once. If you ever need any additional guidance feel free to reach out!

Best,
Erin
