Hello,

If you want to own your own business one day, I think one of the best things that you could do would be to have an internship with someone that has started a successful business. Regardless of the industry, there are certain things that apply to starting up a new business that are translatable.

Hi Evan! You have a great mindset! It is great that you are looking for ways to improve as setting goals and looking for ways of self-improvement is an aspect that is important regardless of where you end up in your career. I would recommend by writing your goals down, in what ways do you want to improve and develop a plan and healthy habits to achieve your goal. Also, I'd recommend that you stay organized, by using an agenda and writing down all your tasks. Good luck!

I am glad to hear that you want to be an entrepreneur and help people. It is really great.
Have you thought about what industry you like to start you business? Since you like playing games, would you like to start your business in games. You can consider to start games development company. However, you may need to have the relevant knowledge and skills regardless what industry you would like to start with. You can explore what interested in and determine what subject you will take in the college. You can then work in the industry first before you starting your own business.
At the same time, I know you would like to help people. You can offer opportunities to people like minorities, disables, etc. to work in your future company. Also, you can consider to do voluntary work using your knowledge skills as well.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hi Evan,

If you have a specific type of business in mind, I would suggest getting a job working in Operations of that business for a little while. It will show you how that business is run and you can decide if you want to emulate or oppose how you end up running your business.

The non-profit space might also be a good place to start for you, as their goals are tied to assistance.

All great answers above.

My two cents: Try to experience as much of life as you possibly can. Try as many odd jobs as possible, travel as much as you can, talk with as many professionals as you know. One great practice is to take a professional to coffee at least once a week - you don't have to drink coffee. Ask each one of them to meet with you for 30 minutes and ask them how they got to where they are, what are they glad they did, if they had to do it over again, what would they do differently.

You'll learn so much just from listening to the stories of others as you are on your way to writing your own story. Good luck.

You're already asking yourself the right question! How can I improve and improve the lives of others? That's a great start! Always continue to ask that question as your progress into adulthood. There are opportunities around every corner. Turn inward to your community and look for the things it lacks, then ask yourself how you can fill those gaps. Good luck!
