What Math courses do I need to take to get into medical school?

I MIGHT or might not go to medical school. For my current major, the only math classes I have to take are Precalculus and Statistics. Do I need one or two Calculus courses, too, or anything else? #college #mathematics #medical-school

hi marwa,

yes, take whatever prerequisite courses are needed by your preferred medical school. however, realize that calculus is without a doubt the least important of all of your pre-med requirements.

statistics, however, will come in handy.

good luck!

Steve’s Answer

The best place to find this info is the medical school you would like to attend. Most students enroll in a pre-med track to better prepare them for medical school. If you contact the school, they could help you with course selections.

Thank you comment icon Thank you! But like I said, I'm not even sure I want to go to Medical School. I want to be prepare when I'm done just in case I do want to, so I can graduate with the requirements for at least some med schools. Thanks again. Marwa

Rachel’s Answer

One semester of calculus was all that was required when I applied. I passed the AP exam in high school that that satisfied my requirement.

Statistics is a typical pre-med requirement. You will also need calculus for most science degrees. Some college level physics also requires calculus.
