Hi Hr6 S,

Question is similar to me at my 10th class. I have chosen my choice to be become software engineer that time and taken the path accordingly. Still i like physics and math's but career will be chosen with only one field which we are very much passion about. Building the knowledge in any field could helpful in career. And never ever ask and follow others for "your future" which is completely on your hands and choices.
I have seen some people who are very good at knowledge but failed in building career. Planning for future career path is much important with deep insight.
Be sure what you like and plan for your career before taking any major steps because we cant go back and erase it later.

Bill’s Answer

Whatever you choose you should enjoy doing it. The reason for that, is you will doing it day in and day out. Without enjoyment there are inevitable downsides. That said, my father and grandfathers all said to have a list. At the top of that list was thing you most want to do for a living. The second item was a backup incase things do not work out with the first. The third a hobby you can make money with. The list may change overtime as new things develop and/or your interests or needs change. The first was to set some goals for yourself. This follows with what the others have said. I myself started out thinking I would be a mathematician until I was introduced to my first computer programming language. I have been programming for over 30 years. It will take exposure to different things to find your enjoyment factor with them. Experiment and try to create your first list.

Evan’s Answer

Hi Hr6,

Per my understanding, pyhisics and math are key stones for all kinds of technology and engineering. that means there's no conflict between the basic subjects and technology. The most popular technologies are derived and drived by math and pyhisics, such machine learning, machine vision.

But I need to say that this is just my perspective, just for your reference. It's up to you to select the road for future.
Hope it helps.

Best Regards
Evan

Sukhminder’s Answer

Hi Hr6,

This is a very broad question. You should define some spheres of interest first before asking yourself this question. I am sure you do not want to be a farmer or welder, although you can be anything. Same way find out what you do not want to be to understand what you can be.

You can always change a career or modify it. But things show better results when body, mind and spirit align with your career. Then that career becomes a vacation.

Thanks,
SUKHI.

Janardan’s Answer

Hello Hr6,

You are asking this question at right age. The world is much better place with lot of information you can gather and even communicate with people directly. The interests you listed are in sciences.

Google, Twitter/Instagram and YouTube are you best friends.

Start by searching on YouTube for topics of your interest. That should help you create more interest. YouTube recommendations will help you know topics adjacent and more relevant to you. Start "subscribe"ing to channels on YouTube, so that you watch new videos when posted.

Find the tags which are relevant for your interest areas. Search and follow people on Twitter and Instagram. They help you connect with people and seek advice.

When you are in 12th grade, you will have better clarity on which field to go to. Search for universities and colleges that offer courses. Also, see if there are contacts of faculty online. Seek opportunities of internship in areas of your interest. The internship will help you preferred candidate over others with same academic background.

Janardan recommends the following next steps:

Search YouTube for your favourite topic and subscribe to channels
Follow posts and people on Twitter/Instagram
Look for colleges you aspire to join
Find internship opportunities

Brandon’s Answer

My advice would be to just enjoy whatever you like doing because when you are passionate about something you love it will only give you more insight. Since you enjoy both technical and math aspects, there are plenty of opportunities where you can incorporate both of those topics together. However, try to expand on what you love about each one and consider the positives of which topic outweighs the other. Regardless, you can always start a different career at any point in life. It is never too late.

Good Luck,
Brandon
