What are some jobs available to those with training in computer networking and cyber security

I'm a student enrolled in Job Corps and I'm intend to go into the Computer Networking training then the Cyber Security after. I'm curious as to what kind of Jobs are available to someone with that kind of training. Are there any that offer a flexible schedule in case I wanted to further my education, what about any that offer or require travel.

Eli’s Answer

For Computer networking and cyber security there are a bunch of directions you can take, the suggestions already posted are great and to add to them I would suggest looking into a Cyber Security Network Role that will pull both strengths. Working as Pentester like mentioned before or a in a team that focuses on the Network Security like WAF, SASE, DDOS prevention, or DLP just to name a few. You can then work your way into forensic or other Security fields from there.

Eli recommends the following next steps:

You can Look at Venders like FireEye, Netscope, Menlo Security, Akami, Microsoft, JAMF, CarbonBlack, Cisco, and many more.
As mentioned in other answers Certificates Certificates Certificates - Look into ISC2, EC-Council, Microsoft, GIA, and even CompTIA. It is also a Good Idea to get ITIL Certified as you will be needing to follow these change and tracking fundamentals.
Cybersecurity Conferences - if you can or are close to a location that hosts you can often get Free tickets to the Vender rooms where you can walk around and talk with 100s of different venders and these passes can also get you into some of the sessions. You can search for these as they change a bit each year, but there are always the big ones like RSA, Def Con, Black Hat, but there are also many more of all sizes.
