What course should I start with for interior design? And can I do business later even though I didn't take it in year 11?

I'm a fifteen year old about to sit for my IGCSE exams and I want to be an interior designer. However I didn't choose business as one of my optional subjects. I want to figure out which courses I should take when I go to university and in which order. #interior-design #business #design

I would say definitely take art courses in addition to business courses, and I would take these simultaneously. To be an interior designer you need to have a certain artistic eye, in addition to 2D/3D concepts, color psychology, and so on. Therefore art courses are extremely important especially if you're not already artistic to some degree (i.e. painting, sculpting, drawing, knitting, graphic design, digital art, etc.). Moreover, I say simultaneously because you need to be great in both, not just one. Additionally I would say take some architecture and CAD courses as those deal more with the construction of a 3D space which is vital in interior design.

Brandi recommends the following next steps:

List the universities you are interested in
Look at what courses/degrees each of them offers related to interior design (i.e. art, business, design, CAD, architecture, etc.)
Create 4-Year plans for each university based on the courses/degrees you found
Compare and contrast each university and decide which one is best for you!

Hello Martha! Here's a cool idea to consider: There is a business in Denver Colorado called Havenly that has online interior designs. As a designer you are able to work without a formal degree in interior design. My wife did this and took several online courses to learn Adobe and the other tools used. I would recommend checking this out to see if this would be a viable opportunity for you! Here is the link: https://havenly.com/interior-design-careers
