I am an international student, pursuing a Master's Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineer Carleton University.Is there any technical job which requires least coding?

Hope you are doing well there. I faced your kind of problem when I was doing my Post Grad in " Telecom and IT". Since I was an Army Officer in India and that too from core telecom background with M.Sc in Physics &Electronics, I preferred to pursue telecom rather than IT, howsoever, our project involved lot of hard coding. While I did most of the System Analysis and Designing part along with my partner,who did most of the hard coding part, which appeared as a NO big deal to me either, simply it was conversion of algorithm written in English to C++, but I never tried my hands in software development later.

Coming back to your MS degree and future employment, I would say that you have a great advantage as an electrical engineer with IT background at masters level. May be you look at High Power Engineering segment, Smart grids, Power Generation and controlling systems or such areas where your expertise as an electrical engineer is put to use and further developed, also your knowledge in IT/computers is exploited/put to use greatly. Today, no engineering is complete without a base of computer science specially AI, it will be always of help.

On the other hand, if you understand English grammar, likewise treat the computer language in the same fashion. You just need some few hours of extra mid night oil to burn or may be help of a close friend who is good in programming, you will get it. Coding/writing a program is just conversion of same logical steps in English into any of the programming language. You just need to catch the bull by horn! Remember : When going gets Tough, Tough gets going!

If you wish to be an IT professional without programming expertise, jobs like Business Analyst, Sales and Marketing of software along with host of other jobs are there in IT domain where you need different set of skills, say managerial or people skills. So don't worry, things will fall in place. Decide what want to pursue and then take suitable steps. All the very best!

There are plenty of computing jobs you can do without a lot of coding. Among many jobs, you can be a project manager (manage IT projects), a business analyst (manage the relationship between IT and business software users), an information developer (write technical manuals and documents), or a software quality assurance analyst (do testing on software).
