For a aspiring Orthodontist/Dentist what course would be reasonable to take, AP Stat or Pre-Calcu?

Today we were given our course registration for next year, which will be my senior year in high school. I'm currently in Algebra II and have the option of taking either AP Statistics or Pre-Calculus H next year.

What would you recommend for an aspiring Orthodontist or Dentist? I know that most med schools require one of the two or a semester of Calculus and a semester of Statistics. My two dream colleges are Tufts University and Simmons College.

I’m struggling between which of the two to take because my Geometry teacher from last year feels it will be a good fit to take AP Stats, while my Algebra II teacher feels I’ll benefit from pre-calc. Now I’m stuck because I feel If I pick between the two, my future in choosing colleges will be based off my senior year courses. #dentistry #dentist #orthodontist #pre-dental

I'm guessing you are not planning a major in the physical sciences, because calculus will definitely be required. If so, I'd opt for the pre-calculus. If you are looking at a major in the life sciences, I'd give a slight edge to statistics--particularly if the course is strong in biostatistics. Having a grounding in statistics will be mandatory if you wind up in research; it will also be necessary for critical reading of the literature.
If you've made neither of these decisions don't worry--there will be time to sharpen up your focus in college.
Best of luck to you!

I would take AP Calculus as this is very likely a pre-dental requirement at most if not all dental schools. If you have seen the information before in high school, you will have a better chance of getting the much-needed A in college.
