How can I pick a job that makes a lot of money that I also enjoy ?

I want to make a lot of money but at the same time I want to find a job that I enjoy doing but I don't see that happening too often. I also don't know how to pick a collage or what to look for in one.

Hello Sage,

This is a great question. The term you used "alot of money" will look different to everyone.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. How much money do I want to make in a month?
2. What do I enjoy doing? (Sometimes hobbies and interests can develop into income-producing careers)
3. Lastly, do I need to attend on-campus or do I want to be 100% online to learn?

These will help you narrow down some of your options for your Market Research. Figure out what works for you and your current lifestyle. In most cases, following your passion will produce long-term growth both on a personal and monetary level.

Good luck!

Marco’s Answer

Early in my career, I was advised to find a working environment that satisfied my interests (work, challenges, good people, and so on). My coach and I covered the topic in greater detail, but I believe this advice is solid for most people as a starting point, and the punchline was: "Quality of Life will follow."

Another piece of advice given to me: "You couldn't pay me enough to just let my brain rot in that job."

Both of these were important to me because I desire growth and challenges. However, you may want something different. I don't believe it is realistic to find an easy job where you get paid a lot of money because those two ideas are in conflict. My best example is to consider star athletes - they work hard to be successful and the same can be said of well-paid professionals. The trick is to work hard on things you enjoy doing, which I see is a common theme in the answers to your question.

For college, my comments are short. Colleges know students may not know their major on the first day, and will do their best to guide you and start you with a common core of classes. You specialize later. Also, I encourage you to visit a couple of local colleges with your family or friends and see how they are organized. Visit the bookstore, walk the campus and the insides of some buildings. You'll see things you like or don't like, and that information will help you figure out the next steps of selecting the college.

Good luck!

Hi Sage! I hope you are doing well! Thanks! Yes, it is possible to make a lot of money and at the same time do a job that I enjoy doing. In this case, it should not be a salary/paid work or job and a job you create on your own. When you create your own business and you are your own boss, it is easier to better schedule your timetable. But in any case, you must love working hard and you must continue learning!
Good luck!

hiSage
1)your questions "I want to make a lot of money but at the same time I want to find a job that I enjoy doing but I don't see that happening too often.

2) I also don't know how to pick a college or what to look for in one.

from your questions, I read the below:
1)you want to make money at work and enjoy what you are doing for work
2) how to pick a college that will enable fulfilling making money and enjoying your work

you can approach this many ways obviously- much will depend on factors such as the market, where you want to live or if the work is remote and mobile in conjunction with your desires/enjoyment
you can start with "soul searching" -"what do you enjoy and then apply reverse planning and look at jobs that match those factors;but you need to include the location or type, if remote and if there is an actual market for those jobs. If the location is not a factor for you, then you may have more opportunities. Research job boards with role descriptions and salaries advertised as this will give you general information about skills and types of jobs in relation to your interests.

once you narrow your options, you can look for educational institutions which will fulfill meeting the job requirement; if in fact it actually requires a degree; some may need experience, certifications, tech training-such as computer fields and even some management positions.
Generally, if you are needing college, ensure they are certified and in good standing and accredited.

best regards and well wishes to you.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question. The most important is you have found a job that you have interest. if you like the job that you have interest and perform well, then you can advance in your career path and earn a awesome income.
Below is my suggestions :
1. Think about what you have interest, e.g. your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc. and the relevant careers
If you are interested in Maths, would you consider to be an accountant, banker, maths teacher, financial analyst, engineer, etc.
If you are interested in Music, would you consider to be a singer, composer, music producer, music teacher, etc.
2. Find out more these careers and identify what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of the relevant subjects in the college
If you would like to keep advance your career, you have to advance your knowledge up to date and establish good people network in the industry.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
