Dan’s Answer

Graciela, thanks for the question -- I'm guessing you must be considering a career in law, which for me has been really rewarding. I have been a lawyer for over 25 years. I work for one company in a business that's interesting to me. I read, write, work with others every day as a team, and am asked to help solve problems creatively. Those are the most enjoyable parts of my job. Best of luck to you!

Ashunda’s Answer

I am a newly barred attorney and have only been a part of this amazing profession for about three years. What I enjoy most about being an attorney is knowing that what I do and the advice I give my clients are impactful. Being prepared to provide the best representation to my client can truly change their life. I have practiced in family law, business law and criminal law. For instance, on a family law case, I am providing advice during a time that is full of emotion for my client. The best part is knowing that in some small way, I am helping them navigate what may be
the biggest challenge of their lives, such as divorce or child custody. However, no matter what area I practice, my guidance, knowledge and advice as an attorney goes a long way in impacting the people I choose to serve.

Kieran’s Answer

I am a family lawyer - this area of the law is often emotional for clients but I find it rewarding to help people during a difficult time they can be facing like a divorce for example. I currently work for myself (I have my own firm). I also like being a lawyer because even if you deal with the same type of case (like divorces) - every situation is different and you are constantly learning, especially when you encounter new or unique legal issues or changes in the law. Other areas of the law may not be as heavily involved with client interactions like family law, such as preparing contracts or other transactional work. You may have to experience different areas to see what you enjoy the most.
