Chirayu’s Answer

There are many things a student needs to look at when trying to figure out what college to attend. Some of the main things to look at are geographic location, size of school, if the chosen field is offered at the college, where does it rank amongst other schools that offer it, is housing offered on campus, what are some financial benefits of attending, are scholarships offered. Take tours to colleges you have an interest so you get to see everything in person before making a decision. Reach out to students who attend those colleges and see if they can answer any questions you may have. Keep an open mind and explore all the opportunities, there are a ton of resources available from your high school counselor to teachers and students.

There are a set of methods that you must take into account, such as reading first on the Internet, about the available fields and majors, and then start choosing the field that you find that may suit you, and then ask the specialists about it and graduates from it, their experiences will benefit you, and then read about the future This field has several aspects: job opportunities, financial return, high study in it, and majors

Katie’s Answer

Hi Statton,

There are a number of things to consider when picking a college.
- Cost: tuition, room and board, travel, etc.
- Proximity to home: how close do you want to be from home? Is out of state an option?
- Academic degree options: Does this college have the major you're interested in pursuing?
- Extracurriculars: Does the school have extracurriculars that you are interested in or that will help you get a job later on?
- Alumni Network: Does this school have a strong alumni network that can help in getting you a job after college?

These are just a few, but its important to remember to choose whatever you are most comfortable with. College is a great time to learn about yourself, and finding a place you're comfortable at will make it much easier.

Tuition is big for me, as well as how many students gets jobs after they complete their degree. Check your local colleges to see if they have career centers to help you with your resumes and to help you start your career after you complete your degree.

Hi Statton,

There are a number of things to consider when choosing a college.
There are the obvious things like major availability, cost, location, school reputation (esp. in your desired field), stats needed to get in, etc. but there are also other things to consider in terms of school culture. Do you want to go to a school where sports are a large part of the culture, do they have extensive extra curriculars (Greek Life, clubs, etc.) that would be of interest to you? Can you live on campus, if that's what you're interested in?

I would suggest making a list of what is important to you from your college experience including things like your major, budget (do you nee loans, aid, etc.) as well as the social things you want out of your college experience.

And then do research on which schools could fit what you're looking for.

Best of luck!
Megan

Thank you for your question. This is a very common question that many students may have.
I think this question have to view on 2 sides : On one hand. you may have to identify the college suitable to you. On the other hand, the college may also choose the students that meet their criteria.
Below are my suggestions :
1. You may need to decide the careers you would like to pursue and the relevant subjects
2. Explore the college ranking and comments on the the subject.
3. Find out the entry criteria on the subjects of the colleges
4. Attend Information Session held by the college. Speak to professors to acquire better understanding
5. Do a college visit if possible
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Victor’s Answer

Ranked by priority:

1). Tuition Cost - You don't want to graduate with heavy student debt. If you can get a scholarship to anywhere, even better.

2). Field of Study - While some schools as a whole are not highly ranked, some of their departments are top notch and can probably get you that job you want better.

3). Location - Do you like being near family? Coming back to your hometown during Holidays can either be a breeze or a pain depending where you are going.

4). Everything else.

Aaron’s Answer

Statton,

This is a question many students grapple with. However, the 1st question should be do you want to stay at home and go to school, or go away to another city, or state. The 2nd question should is to determine what it costs to attend college. Costs have gone sky high since I was in college. Upwards of 100 x. Determine if you or your family has the finances to afford college then put a plan together to pay for it. This may involve getting a scholarship through academics/athletic, grants, student loans or other financial assistance.
Once the plan is in place then determine your field of study and look at what type of career you would want. Research the available jobs in your field.
Future in demand jobs include:
IT Security
Physician Assistants
Wind Turbine Service Techs
Software Developers

Good luck.
