Which kinds of pests can you find in farms?

I've heard that Locusts can be found but I'm not sure if that's true or not. There are several pests that exist but I don't really know which ones can be found.

Old mountain raised farm boy here. Any thing that causes a problem is a pest.
In the mountains, where I grew up, we had raccoons- other wild life, bugs of all kinds, rodents that caused problems.
Get into the silo's where crops was stored & contaminate it. Get into buildings, make nests in the hay/straw, tear up things, so on.
Mom's flower garden was all the time being tore up by Muley deer that came out of the woods & ate her plants.
Had badgers make holes all over the place.

So on a farm there are lots of pests.

Greetings Karla,

Locusts are not usually found on farms. Locusts are found all over the world, and one has to consider the different species of this insect to get a better understanding of its habitat and where to find them. Basically, locusts can inhabit any warm region of the world – and that explains why we have desert locusts on one hand and tree locusts on another.

In your area, the American desert locust (Schistocerca americana) is found in the deserts and arid regions of North America.

You sound like you have an interest in insects. Explore and research more about your area:

Robert’s Answer

There are also very crop specific pests that can cause severe issues. An example, in onions there is a tiny little insect called a thrip that can cause major issues or even a total crop loss. This thrip won't affect other crops like onions. They are sucking insects and also spread disease to the onions.
