In high school, you should focus on science and math courses. Additionally, you can take advanced classes in biology, anatomy, chemistry, and physics. Additionally, volunteer work at local hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes can provide you with experience in patient care and communication. It will also give you a chance to see various types of health professional roles that may interest you. While in college, it is good to meet with a guidance counselor to establish what courses you should take to prepare for a career in medicine. You can also volunteer at college health events and attend pre-medical events to gain a better understanding of what medical professions entail.
